Located in the heart of a Big Five reserve near Hoedspruit, Camp Jabulani represents the epitome of style, luxury, gastronomic excellence and warm hospitality. The camp was established to support and sustain one abandoned baby elephant, Jabulani, followed by 12 other elephants rescued from Zimbabwe who found themselves in the care of wildlife visionary, Lente Roode.

The camp is built along the bank of a seasonal stream in the protective shade of impressive leadwood trees with six luxury air-conditioned suites, outdoor shower, private plunge pool, fi re place, minibar, safe, hairdryer, lodge pool, spa, open-air gym and gift shop. Zindoga suite is a new exclusive unit which can cater for small family groups.

Sabi Sabi Private Game Reserve is set within the world renowned 65,000 hectare Sabi Sand, in the southern section of the Kruger National Park. This award winning reserve offers exceptional close wildlife encounters, personal service and delicious cuisine.

The four luxurious lodges have three very distinct characters and atmospheres – yesterday, today and tomorrow. This is encapsulated in the "Yesterday" experience at the romantic Selati Camp with eight suites; "Today" at the more contemporary lodges of Bush Lodge with 25 suites, gift shop, gym and spa and the intimate Little Bush Camp with six suites; and "Tomorrow" at the eco-friendly Earth Lodge with 13 luxurious suites including private plunge pool and butler, gift shop, spa and gym.

This wonderful circuit combines three exquisite wilderness areas, from the heart of the Kruger National Park famous for the Big Five to the pristine wetland environment of Kosi Bay and the unspoilt beaches and crystal waters of Mabibi Bay in the Isimangaliso Wetland Park.

Between the Drakensberg Mountains and the Kruger National Park on the banks of the Makutsi River, lies Makutsi Safari Springs. It is raw African bush enjoyed by people who appreciate the peace and serenity of nature. Palms, acacias and bushveld; elephant, rhino, giraffe, lion, cheetah, leopard, crocodile and more. Soft thermal-mineral water bubbles from two hot springs, nestling among indigenous trees. The food is a healthy variety of venison specialties, home grown vegetables and home bred beef. Accommodation is in rondavels with private facilities. The camp also offers two swimming pools with soft thermal-mineral water at 34°c. Both the restaurant and the bar are built as an open “Lapa”.

Adjacent to Kruger National Park lies Thornybush Game Reserve, consisting of 11,500 hectares of pristine African bushveld and boasting an abundance of bird and animal species, including the Big Five. There are five exclusive safari lodges: The three 4* lodges include N’Kaya Lodge with four air-conditioned thatched suites, lodge pool and boma; Chapungu Tented Camp offering eight air-conditioned tented suites, lodge pool, gift shop and boma; and Serondella Game Lodge which has four airconditioned suites, lodge pool, gift shop, boma and elevated viewing hides. The two 5* lodges include Thornybush Game Lodge which offers 20 luxury air-conditioned suites with in and outdoor showers, lodge pool, spa, library, boma and curio shop; and Shumbalala with fi ve suites, private viewing deck, outdoor shower, lodge pool, curio shop and wine cellar.

Getting There: Daily flights operate from Johannesburg to Hoedspruit, and then a road transfer to the lodge;
charter flights can be organised directly into the reserve; or by self drive.

Activities: Two game drives and a game walk are included each day. Game drives are in open Land Rovers accompanied by experienced rangers and trackers, at dawn and dusk.

On the northbound journey, Cape Town to Pretoria, the train stops at Matjiesfontein. Here the Victorian buildings and original nineteenth century London lampposts impart to the traveller, the uncanny sense of entering a colonial time warp – an oasis suspended in a different age. The Blue Train dining experience is an elegant affair and a banquet for all the senses. The meals are freshly prepared on board the train by executive chefs. Carefully selected South African wines complement the gourmet cuisine served. In keeping with the classical ambience of the dining car, lunch is a casual affair while dinner is formal with men requested to wear a jacket and tie and ladies elegant eveningwear. Guests may also wear traditional attire to dinner.
