All About South Africa
South Africa is a nation of exceptional natural beauty with a rich cultural heritage. Tropical forests, soaring mountains, golden beaches, arid deserts, cosmopolitan cities and classic African savannahs all combine to make South Africa a unique and exciting destination.
The country enjoys a sunny climate year round. The cooler winter months are June to August and while this can be an ideal time for game viewing, there is generally no 'off-season' to South Africa.
The Big Five originated from the early game hunters indicating the Elephant, Black Rhino, Buffalo, Leopard and Lion to be the most difficult animals to hunt by foot. The Big Five are undoubtedly the biggest highlight of anyone's first safari.
Kruger National Park is one of the most famous and biggest wildlife parks in the world, with over 1200 species of flora and fauna. There are a number of ways to visit the park including mini bus tours from Johannesburg, walking safaris, camping tours and a wide selection of lodges to stay at.
Cape Town is known as the 'fairest cape' as it falls under the backdrop of Table Mountain offering spectacular scenery and sophistication. Cape Town provides a smorgasbord of activity from shopping in the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, club hopping through the city's sophisticated bars to surfing the rugged coastline.
The Garden Route - heading east out of Cape Town is The Garden Route, a beautiful stretch of countryside dotted with charming villages and holiday resorts perfect for the self-drive enthusiast.
